I have an electrical problem on my 1150.
I'm confident I've traced the problem to the orange connector block that joins the ignition switch to the main loom.
All the contacts within this are badly corroded and if wiggled about (in a technical manner) the lights on the dash illuminate.
I'd like to replace the connector and reterminate all the wires through it.
I've checked out moto-bins and motorworks but they only seem to sell the ignition side of this connector with the ignition loom.
Does anybody know where I can buy the connector on it's own.

Cheers

Paul

Paul, i don't know how old your bike is, but the chances are your loom will need replacing sometime soon enough. I replaced my 1100 loom c/w connector from Motorworks late last year for about £45.........

Not too much money for continued peace of mind.

Hi DD
If I went down that route I would have a brand new ignition half of the connector and ignition loom plugged in to a badly corroded other half of the connector.
If I can't get hold of the correct bit I'm considering replacing it with a screw block connector and covering the whole lot in self amalgamating tape.
I know this is a bit of a bodge but can't see anything wrong with it.
After all it's only an 1150.
It's not like it's a precision engineered 1200 is it?:augie

It`s more likely to be a broken wire between the contact block at the base of the ignition barrel and the connector you speak of than the actual connector block.
That`s a very common fault due to the bend in the mini loom and it being zipped to the front subframe,so the fork turning motion causes the broken wire.

If you`re certain it`s the connector at fault, then rather than using shitey screw connectors and tape, simply cut the plug and socket off and strip the wire ends and solder them together....obviously sleeve the soldered joints or use S.A.tape afterwards.

There speaketh mister professional (AKA Haircut 100, LOL ) maintenance man, perhaps Joe average ain't capable of soldering in a suitable manner?

Steve, should point out..... I've not eaten since lunch-time and done a fair amount of Glenfiddich.:beerjug:

Sound advice though........................................ even through my beer goggles:D

just take one wire at a time, double check its not looped back into another wire before cutting in to the loom.

i just happen to have that loom in a drawer with the actual ignition switch missing about the rest of the wire is there....

cancel that .. i missed the bit where its the other half your after as well... doh... dont have that bit.

Read the question, s l o w l y ....

blowzorn wants the "bike" side of the connector/plug, not the loom side.

Paul before you go chopping wires!

My recommendation is to Firstly locate a tin of acf 50 and purchase!!

Spray this "Sparingly" (a little goes a very very long way) into the corroded connectors ( in fact while you're in there do them all) and see where you go from there!

If after 24 hours this hasn't sorted your problem then order a multiplig kit from

They do up to an 11 spade connector
