I picked up my new R12GSA on Christmas eve... Yippee :bounce1

It came with the BMW pannier rails. I am really sorry if I have missed a previous thread.... but...

I have read some comments on the BMW cases being easily attacked with salt etc...

But like the neat fitting... they would be I guess being OEM...

But prior to buying the bike I was told there are loads of panniers that fit thr BMW pannier rails..

Erm, am I being think? But how does one get around the 'wonky' bend around the exhaust frame???

All other makes seem to be flat sided... surely this will make the mounting weak on that side???

Please... advice for the newbie to all of this...

Only BMW GSA panniers will fit with the BMW rails. :comfort

Get the BMW panniers - good bit of gear.

touratech vs bmw branded paniers

Hi,

I have two bikes one with touratech zega cases (F650GS Dakar) and my GSA with the BMW branded paniers. I much prefer the bmw paniers simply because you can easily open and close them, take them off the bike without having to take stuff out of the panier (which is the case on the touratech ones). The bmw's all lock up easily the lids don't get in the way either. The Touratech paniers are much more simple and their durability has never been an issue etc. But I would never exchange my bmw paniers on the 1200 for touratech zega's.

That's my two cents. I know that there are loads of other options that people love so I can only speak from experience.

Regards,

Jimmy.

For £325 our own Redcap will make you a set of lovely pans to fit on the 1200GSA rails, painted to your taste.;)

Easy solution when it comes to BMW alloy panniers, apply a light coat of ACF50 and this will protect them from salt. You will need to re-apply now a then. :thumb
