I'm Looking For A New Personal Finance Program

Have been using Quicken (2001) happily for years and have learned it is not now supported in UK so an upgrade may be difficult / impossible.

Any recommendations for a fairly basic program to help me count my meagre beans? Nothing too clever, I'm not running a business or handling complicated tax returns.

quick books its by the same company and really easy to use no idea how much. As we use the pro version with multi license it's over £500 but basic use to be about £120...

we run our house account with it and it's very good appart from the wife knowing more about little money I have than I do...

Mainstream is Microsoft Money 2005 which you should be able to pick up reasonably cheaply. In April 2006 it came out top in a Which report. I use it but don't like it as much as "Quicken", which is very difficult to get hold of unless you are willing to buy a US copy on ebay.

An alternative which is getting quite good press is http://www.accountz.com/household.html

If you use Linux or MacOS then http://www.gnucash.org/ is worth looking at.

Will look into this lot. Did see some Quicken on eBay but seemed to be supplied from Europe or USA, which made me nervous.

Maybe time for a change.

I've used Microsoft Money for around 10 years with no problems. For running some bank accounts / credit cards / loans and normal domestic investments it is just fine. Nothing to compare it with - but it "does what it says on the tin".
