That locks.
That is easily removable. Preferabaly without having to open the box.
And that fits a full face helmet.

I know there's a few out there, but what do you recommend? It's for a 1150gs, already have original BMW panniers, want something that's handier around town, and secure enough to leave my arai, they're like magnets to thieving scumbags

I just fitted a Givi 52 which looks great and takes two full face lids but I don't know how secure it is but that's not really an issue where I stay.
The fixing kit was easy to mount and the whole thing took about an hour.
Getting it off the bike is simple as is opening and closing it.

I suppose that means it'll be easy for the theiving scum as well...

My mate left his bike outside my house about a year ago, his Givi top box was stolen one night. Next day there was a phondcall to out house by some scumbag saying if we wanted it back, to meet him outside Tescos with €200! Of course we called the police, who turned up 2 hours later!

Thanks for the reply, but i was hoping for a metal mule type box, but removable without having to open the box. Maybe people could give me the pros and cons of the ones you got

I'm not sure if it will suit as you do have to open it to remove it but you don't have to open it all the way and it comes off so quickly that rain isn't a problem (unless you are carrying secret messages written on blotting paper) but I have the Metal Mule one. When it's off you have a nice plain black rack which you can bungee things onto if needed. It fits a full face helmet plus gloves etc.

Very well built 100% water and sand proof, carrying handles, rubber feet and lashing points and literally takes less than 5 seconds to remove but is secure when locked in place.

I used to have the Touratech top box which was also very well built and you don't have to open it to remove it, but it is such a pain to take on and off that I used to just leave it on permanently.

There are other systems out there but I have no direct experience of them.

Shop around, see the systems in the flesh and take the boxes on and off a few times before you decide. It's expensive to change once you've taken the plunge!

Second what Schiannini says re Metal Mule. I have just switched to a MM from a Touratech one and the MM is way better.

The CaJa Sahel ones are great value, does that include the mount? Can it be removed/attached easily? And does it have a lock? It would be nice to buy Irish, i see they're in Donegal.

The Metal Mules look quality, their price list page isn't working at the moment though.

You can have any thing you want.
They are Top Loaders , two locking latches.
Everything is included. Top Box , Mounting plate , Longer nuts n bolts.
They are of welded "n" Folded construction.

As Standard the Top Box is mounted using 6 steel bolts,
i have gone out and out for strength here , cos of my experiances with a Partner that is constantly asleep on the back.
Have a read through the Various , {Well two} threads } just to
see the various options .For instance Powder coating ,
Liners , or wee secret Document compartments .
