iMac issue with internet?

Got an imac, about 6 years old and until now has been faultless....

Last couple of days when on here after re-loading a couple of times it seems to just 'hang' and doesn't refresh.... and when I try to click on any of my bookmarked sites nothing happens......

Restart the imac and everything is ok for a few minutes, then it starts doing it again

Got an ipad and while the imac is playing up the wifi used for both is working on the ipad no problems... and all the lights on the wifi are lit as they should be , and the imac is indicating its connected to the wifi as usual......

Any ideas?

Turn the router off for five mins and then turn it back on

Reset safari

Clear all cookies cache etc

Mine was doing the same

All ok now

Also worth repairing the permissions.
Go to 'Applications'... 'Utilities'....'Disk Utility'.....select your hard drive and then 'repair permissions'

Could also be an early sign the hard drive is starting to play up - had that with mine - so after you have repaired permissions etc in disc utility try verify disc -
(opposite side of window to repair permissions) and see what it says. If it is on it's way out no big deal new ones are cheap and its not a big job to change it.
