To the collective who know about such things, I have an iMac 27" bought 2011, it's currently running Yosemite OS which I know is old, I run iPhoto and Aperture and although they will not get updated anymore will they run on the new OS? I have looked on web and some Mac forums but there seems to be differing ideas from saving programmes in a folder to open later to a straight no problem Any ideas, any smart Cookies:D who know about this? Is there any gain to be had from new OS? Cheers in advance:beerjug:John B

I think the new OS ( newer) will give you Photo and if you try and open your aperture or I photo it will migrate your stuff to it

iPhoto will run on my Mac running the Sierra OS. Check out Sierra in the App Store to see benefits. As said if you upgrade all your images & videos will show in Photo. Works well. iPhoto only contains a small selection of images.

I have a mid 2010 27" IMac and Macbook Pro, both are running the latest version of the OS and co-habit with Aperture quite happily but I use Photos as opposed to IPhoto. :thumb2

From what I can tell my iPhoto files are intact but because i went over to Photo I've never bothered to to go back. Your iPhoto library will be copied across to Photo.

if in doubt pop into your nearest Apple Store. They are always really helpful.
