The current thread on the Beam Adjuster started me thinking:
- Are the 'European'version ones as bad for the conflict between the 'aim' of the main beam and dipped beams? (the consensus with the UK version is that, if you set the dipped beam up correctly, the main is way too high)
The first/easiest improvements seem to be either use dremium Halogen H7 lamps (slight improvement) or go for HID's (35W give a massive improvement, 50W are simply amazing)- 35W HID = 2.5 times as bright as standard H7, 50W HID = 4 times as bright as standard H7. With the current price of 35W HID kits on Ebay they are not much more expensive than the most expensive premium halogen H7 lamps and are easy to fit.
The only real downside with HID's is the 'delay' in the main beam coming on (but if you replace the dipped with 50W HID, and don't change the main, you won't be able to tell if the main is on or off!).
How the holy grail! Either:
- Find a way to get seperate adjustment of the main and dipped beams
or (as suggested by Colebatch)
- Get a replacement unit that has 2 x projector lights for 'dip' and a reflector light for main (all HID?)
