As part of my visit to the Kesh Gathering,i made something of a Pilgrimage. So,on Friday i started here;

Joey's Bar at Ballymoney

Joey Dunlop Memorial Garden,Ballymoney. Remembered Joey and his Brother Robert.Both Casualties of the Game they Loved.The Family have asked that the Graves are not visited so i resepected their wishes.

Thanks to R2D2 for the use of his Pictures

And then rode up to Armoy. This area was where the "Armoy Armada" honed their Road Riding Skills.

There is a new Circuit being readied in Armoy with its Inaugural Meeting on 7th and 8th August. I did a couple of tours on the proposed layout but the final layout has yet to be announced.

From there,i rode up to the North West 200 Circuit.

I stopped and asked for directions and a Local Guy lead me,in his car, round a full lap with his young Son in his Kiddy Seat !! Top Fella ! Having been shown round,i did another 5 Laps,just to get a feel for the Circuit.

Then it was off to Kesh. Following the closure of the Kesh Event,i set off on Part 2,starting with the Road Circuit at Cookstown;

5 Laps here,again just to get a feel for the place and not wanting to make a nuisance of myself to the Residents.

After Cookstown it was off to Tandragee;

Another 5 Lap Tour,this place is Crazy ! 2 straights that resemble a Tarmac Coated Roller Coaster !! Just to Temper the Mood,i paid a Moment of Respect and Reflection for the life of Martin Finnegan,killed here in 2008.

From here,i headed North for a visit to Dundrod. Home of the Dundrod 150 and the Ulster GP. This was suggested to me by Shuckraider and i'm so glad that he did.

The Circuit is AWESOME. A very over used word,but not on this occasion. The Surface is mostly,as good as a Brands or Oulton Park. Good enough to produce 130+ MPH Laps !!

I pulled over after 6 Laps that were getting quicker with each pass. Real Roads with Real Traffic !!

All in all,a very enjoyable,though at times emotional, couple of Days.

I'm sorry for posting Links and using borrowed Pics,but i did not take my Camera .

I still can't believe how much you paid for a 'zorst.. :D

Nice to meet y'anyway.

:beerjug:

You were only 5 miles from a mug of tea at our house when you were at Tandragee Dave. :blast

Knowing your love of all things road racing, that was a perfect end to your weekend. :thumb2

Glad you enjoyed a wee visit to some of our Road Circuits. You were also very close to the Mid - Antrim (around Clough).

Us folks in NI kind of take them forgranted.:thumb:aidan

You were also very close to the Mid - Antrim

TBH,Friday went as i wanted it to . The Sunday was going to be Cookstown and then Tandragee for certain (because of the Martin Finnegan Memorial) and whatever else i could fit in.Shuckraider had said about Mid Antrim and Dundrod but said if i only had time for 1 then make sure it was Dundrod.As it turned out,Dundrod was the 1 !! Still,it gives me something to come back for ;) .

Maybe when there is a Meeting on :D.

Told ya :aidan

Tyre Tracks of the Greats sounds good even for a local run. There are also the defunct road race circuits like Temple, Carrowdore and Clady - still intact but no longer used. Anyone think of any more?
