Indicators - To mini or not to mini

Morning guys!

Anybody have expierence in fitting smaller indicators on the GS? I know about the touratech mini indicators but alas they seem to sell the same type of indicator in the motrax range for cheaper? Some punkass minicab mothertrucker decided to knock my bike over friday night at 12:00 making a u-turn in our road which left me with broken back indicator. So that brings it to drop number three since fitting the H&B bars and sure they have now paid for themselves. Unfortunately the driver of the car made a hasty exit so could not get his number plate or type of car to kick his ferkin head in. Besides for the connectors on the wiring is there any pitfalls to fitting them the front, the back indicators seemed pretty straight forward when I looked at them this morning.

But I reckon it's worth it given the price of the BMW ones and how brittle they are.

From memory, all 4 of my mini ones survived my recent off - not much else did

Sorry to hear about your brush. I'm sure that the idicators are an easy fit, but I would say: don't do it! In my experience, they are very hard to see (even at night) - nearly impossible to see on a bright summer's day.

The purpose of indicators is to indicate to other what you are up to. Given the problems those on two wheels have being seen, I personally don't think its a good move.

Ahhhh I see where you guys going with this, I am however fitting my touratech frames very soon and if memory serves me right would need to fit the smaller ones anyway

Have no one invented bluetooth helmet indicators yet?

Haven't seen indicators yet but you can get a helmet mounted brake light at http://www.cyclegadgets.com/Products/product.asp?Item=RL

What's even more suprising (or not) is given the amount of extra lights i have on my bike (2x dip spots, 2x main spots, 2x brake/tail LEDs, 2x rear fog lights) that i haven't actually tried this too. I reckon if someone doesn't see me now (lights, HI Vis jacket, yellow bike, reflective panels on the panniers), that they never will - and if not i BET they're in a f*cking Volvo!

Why do you need to take it apart (I'm assuming this is a 1150)? Whole job (front - don't ask about fitting widetails to the rear ) took about 10 minutes. Take off old lenses - disconnect wires - unbolt old indicators - fit new indicators - re-connect wires - job done....

I wisk they bloody would and they can blue tooth the horn button in as well so that everytime I scream, "Joder, hijo de la gran puta, mamonazo!" etc the horn actually works -the left hand indicator doesn´t really create the sames effect

I kept dropping my bike and breaking standard indicators at £30+ a side it was getting expensive.

I've fitted the Touratech indicators to my 1100. You do need to make a teardrop shaped spacer to fit between the new indicator and the mounting point of the old indicator stem otherwise the Touratech indicators do not sit square to the bike.

I've been 'off' a couple of times since and haven't broken one yet.

To late done it!

Ok boys, bought a set of mini indicators from Infinity motorcycles yesterday for £14.99. They have the "E" mark if it means anything and tell you what besides the fact that they look better they are much brighter than the originals.
Fitted straight on and only needed to fit male connectors on the wiring. Will do the front in the new year after payday.

So far so good.....on my 1100GS

Hi there in Dubai no one pays any attention to the indicators anyway, but we need them on the bike to pass the yearly MOT test. I have installed exactly the same indicators to my 1150GS and they are brighter than the original ones. Very hard to change the bulbs though, but they do look very nice and I have touratech cases on, no need to relocate.

I got some Motrax jobbies -very small and definately much brighter than my Adventure's standard indicators. The packet bumbf states that the Motrax indicators use halogen bulbs, which is possibly the reason.

The only downside to fitting them was that I couldn't fit my set of wide-tails into them and the possibility that they're so close together, that from a distance, other road users may not realize which way I'm indicating to turn.

About the mini indicator from Touratech. I have white glass on my front indicators and it looks a little bit goofy with orange rear ones. Does anyone know where and if I can by only the white glass for my rear indicators.

£2.50 £1.00 for the orange bulb.

You have to file off the lug which prevents you fitting a clear lense in place of an orange by mistake DOH!!.

Take real care fitting them, I managed to snap two posts off before working out that you have to apply pressure across the lense so the post doesn't snap.

By the way they look cool on a 98 1100GS.
