Hi fellas,
Maybe someone can shed some light for me.

I installed a set of PIAA lights as per these instructions : http://www.r1200gs.info/howto/GMTmount.html

To summarise, I basically connected + and - directly to the battery and the relay feed I tapped into the green wire on the diagnostic plug under the seat.
I have an on/off switch which i am keeping situated under the seat as I will keep the lights on all the time.
The lights work perfectly, I was delighted with myself til I realised that my servo brakes don't!!!

Oh, in the interests of providing you with complete information, I also put on nippy normans winglets, touratech hand spoilers and a laminar lip but can't imagine any of these contributing to my problem!

Any thoughts?

If you are getting a warning light saying the ABS is faulty or the brake failure light is on, then I would check that you haven't leant on the RH hand guard moving it so it fouls the brake lever (needs a little freeplay when the lever is flicked forward)

If its not that, then disconnect what you have fitted and check it then?

Good man yourself Shep

'Twas the handguard alright.
There I was staring down the barrel of a big bill for having had the temerity to mess with the dreaded "canbus" system and as it transpired 'twas the handguard spoilers I added which caused the problem.

I am now delighted with myself again for succeeding in wiring the lights successfully.

Thanks again Shep.

Happy St Patricks day.

I too got caught out in the same way, didn't know what had gone wrong. Any way I needed to be in Swindon asap so I made steady progress on residual braking (it's actually not that bad) thought it'd sort it's self out when I restarted it later on. It didn't.
So not being too busy that day and my reason for being in town done, I decided to go straight to Oxford to get them to have a look as the bike was still under warranty.
Well as above they said :rob Oh I expect that'll be the break leaver. Didn't I look cool

Val.
