Having searched and read the threads on here I feel a bit of a fool..... I really can't grasp how to fit this unit to a permanent power source. The Starcom units only draw power when the headsets are plugged in - i take it the autocom units draw power even when off??

How do i know whats switched power and what isn't??

And how easy is it to connect this unit to a power supply?? (I obviously need 'Janet and John' instructions as I can't make head nor tail of the threads posted previously........)

Isn't there a smart pre-wired BMW aux socket plug lead that i can simply plug into the unit and one of the sockets........that would be my ideal solution.

Any help would be most gratefully recieved..........

Steve

Battery

I connected mine directly to the battery with an inline fuse which comes with the fitting instructions. Alternatively you can couple it to the rear light supply depending on where you are fitting it on the bike. I have also seen it attached to the indicator wire at the front of the bike.

Autocom doesn't draw officially until you connect the headset to the supply wire, however there has been evidence that there is a very small draw on the battery when left for some time.

I have now rerouteed mine to the tank bag and supply it via a cigar lighter type connector inside the tank bag via a power connector in the bag. The bike is stored so I have no pictures sorry.

If you are at a dealer soon, I think for 20quid they will sort it for you.

Hope it helps, Nick
