Insurance for America trip

SWMBO and I are planning our first trip to America in November.

Just a simple fly drive but what travel insurance does anyone advise please? -I don't suppose the usual Post Office one we use in Europe is much good for over there.

Any advice gratefully recieved thanks

Last time I needed single trip cover I used http://www.gotravelinsurance.co.uk/
They have a range of options and you can read the full policy before you commit yourself.

Note: like many others, this company excludes medical cover for injuries from riding a motorcycle over 125cc, so buying an annual policy from them is not recommended. Great for 1 off trips though as they are quite cheap.

Depending on the length of your trip, an annual policy may be better value - especially if you are likely to make another trip in the next 12 months. Companies that cover you whilst riding a motorcycle are:

Good point wessie ...............yes these people do cover you if you are on a bike [of any capacity].

I've used Insure and go for a number of years now. I was unfortunate enough to get stung by a scorpion fish whilst in Thailand and was admitted to hospital with severe poisoning. The company were brilliant and took care of everything - they even paid my partners meal costs whilst she was with me and her taxi fares to and from the hospital. When it came to renewing there was no increase in premium and I was still elegible for a loyalty discount.

Highly recommended.
