Any one found an insurance deal for travel to Russia. My Bike policy will not cover me in Russia, Ukraine or any of Bulgaria etc. I have found a company that will bo it third party only for all Europe and Russia with green card etc but it is £350 for just 3 months  Thats more than my year fully comp.
Have been told to buy at the border but its a bit of a waste of time if you need it. Any one got any experiance of this or suggestions.
Thanks

Thanks Aiden thats where I got the best QT so far from. A Dutch company seem very good but its about £85 for 15 days in Russia and another £200+ for the remaining couple of months riding round. And its just third party only.
Looks like its the best offer. just wondered how others had managed it. :thumb

Not related to insurance but I've been out there a few times just recently on business and if you're thinking of riding in Moscow forget it! I never saw a single 2 wheeled vehicle - bike, moped, scooter, push bike, nothing - there just ain't any room - the roads are packed solid and the drivers are mad - actually no, they're brilliant, they must be cos they're still alive!! I thought Tokyo was bad, but this a different league! It quietens down a bit on Sundays though :)

Out of town the roads are poor but the GS will cope with no problems. I've only been in cars, trains and planes and only in the Moscow / St Petersburg area so please don't take this as the definitive guide to Russia.

Have fun and wrap up warm

Cheers Jim

Ted,
Not quite sure what you mean by the above.
But I got my bike insurance at the boarder I crossed into Russia from the Crimea, I got the insurance on the Ukraine side so I had it before the Russian boarder crossing. It was a Russian insurance company and cost 237 Ukrainian Hryvnia (UAH) which was about 30 euro for two months. I have no idea what this covered me for I suspect it was third party only but I was only interested in being legal. You will need it as there are police checks and they will check for it, they may also ask to check your visa and sometimes your log book and driving licence. Take an international licence with you.
