Got my renewal through today from BMW Motorad insurance £225.00 fully comp

tTlephoned them to try and chip the price.

Was offered a policy outside of the BMW scheme from NIG £135.00.

What do you reckon ?

I think you'll find that BMW Motorad insurance and NIG is one and the same. However I should read the small print.

Ive just written off my R1200GS and found the bit in my policy that said if I was unfortunate enough to loose my bike in any way I should get back the 'market value', I was offer the trade value that does not nearly cover a replacement of the same spec, year, mileage etc as quoted in writing by two independant BMW dealers. The matter is now with the Insurance Ombudsman.

Insurance companies are quick enough to take your money and promise the earth but in reality????? I just want to get back on the road again.

The morale of the story check.

Hi Abi

Sorry to hear you wrote your bike off, quick word of advice, ask the Insurance company to replace your bike. Rather than give you what they think is the market value.

Regards RB

Motorad policy is underwritten by equity Red Star and includes legal cover and £250 excess and does not have protected no claims.

NIG is NIG, does not have legal cover but I can have that for £20 but the NIG policy is a protected no claims, oh and I have declared the new Remus can which I am about to fit.

Just wondered if anybody had heard of NIG.

Bob

Just done a search of the net NIG is part of the Royal Bank of Scotland and they state

NIG is the third largest insurer of motorcycles in the UK

The innovative Trophy policy, matches the rider and machine and offers discounts for no claims bonus, voluntary excesses, older motorcycles, motorcycles garaged in a locked and secure building overnight, security devices and for female riders.

Trophy has been awarded the prestigious Crystal Mark from the Plain English Campaign. Another example of how NIG is making things easier for policyholders.

NIG's motorcycle policies are available through NIG approved brokers and it is recommended that you take advantage of the expert independent advice they offer. See "Find Your Broker" page for details on your nearest NIG approved broker.

Going through some of the websites and forum's that mention NIG, they all moan about the customer services and basically say "you get what you pay for"

I noticed that this year BMW want to charge me more for paying by direct Debit, where as previously they would offer me discount if I paid Direct Debit? :blast

The a cheques in the post as it were!!! :rob

Ebike were cheapest for me (45 yrs, riding for 29 yrs, full license 28yrs, one SP30, garage/alarm). I think you struggle to get any of the f*****s to pay out anyway, at least in my experience. :spitfire
