hi all,im planning a trip around the euro zone and ending up in morroco, the thing is im stuggling with getting insurence to cover me in morroco, its the best part of the trip, can anyone recomend a insurer..
cheers

I'm with Carol Nash. They just did me a green card for Morocco in April for £61.
You can get basic 3rd party insurance at the border though as you enter the country.

No bike insurer would offer me comprehensive insurance for my bike whilst i was in Morocco. So I decided to just buy 3rd party insurance as I entered the country since if anything happened the 3rd party would be claiming on a local company which I thought might be easier.

I did get a separate offer of comprehensive insurance from alessie.com for £131 for a month which gave me comprehensive collision insurance on a bike up to £10K but did not include 3rd party cover. It would basically mean that if I binned the bike or it was stolen or caught fire they would pay up to 10K. I decided not to take the comprehensive insurance in the end.

cheers gents, the 3rd party idea sounds like the way to go but i will get in touch with nash as well as the bike needs insureing anyway.:beerjug:

Does your blighty insurance not give you green card cover for Morrocco?

My standard french insurance gives me green card for Morrocco, Algeria, Tunisia etc, not to mention Croatia, Montenegro, Serbia, Ukraine and many others.

All included FOC:nenau

affaid not, only europe, its just another way the british insurence companys can charge you more for what the rest of europe get for free

When and where are you going?
My fellow riders are leaving Morocco around 18th April but I'm thinking of staying on for another week or so, then likely riding back through Spain and France, late April/early May

i ended up going with be-wise (arbour insurence) i think they said, still waiting for the doc's to come through the post,i did get a 90 day green for the euro zone but still no cover for morroco,it looks like ill be grabbing 3rd party at the nearest agent when we get off the ferry.
Drillam,we'll be in morroco from the 9th of june so we'll have just missed you, sorry, ride safe.

I had the same problems and the only solution which worked for me was going through Carole Nash, getting quotes and then getting them to tell me which would give me a green card. Cost me £76 for the green card for 17 days.

Have a good trip Carl

Two good bits of news mind, Morocco is oft cited as 'Europe' for medical insurance and on your phone tariff, something to do with bordering the med I think.

Was pleased to discover med cover was same as a trip top Spain, and txts cost no more when in Morocco too, so not all doom and gloom.

We took the Carole Nash green card - OK expensive but one thing is you are straight through border with little delay wereas getting the insurance may take a bit longer. Never took too long at the Ukrainian border a few years back mind...just have to trust what you have is actually what you wanted - not great at ukrainian, French or Arabic :D

The border guidance and forms on here to assist entry are greatly recommended, though it greatly saddened the hearts of the queues of potential 'helpers' ;)

Enjoy

nice one fritz good advice bud,i think were going to have a last minute change to the travel plans though, morroco is looking like a distant dream at the moment,we've got 4 weeks to cover, germany, poland, bulgaria, romania, slovakia, croatia, montenegro, bosnia, italy, france and spain, then the idea was to jump on a ferry and have a few days bomding around morroco, unfortunatly "the wives"have got togeather and hatched a plan to meet us in spain :blast not f**king happy at all about that, but on the plus side it will earn us some browny points for next year when we tell "the wives" that we're off to morroco for 10 days on a lads jolly because we couldnt do it this year........well thats the idea anyway:thumb
wish me luck:comfort
