Hello everyone,

I haven't logged in for ages but I'm forever checking out the site when I have a few minutes.

The left hand switch gear on my 99 oilhead is showing it's age a bit. There seems to be an intermittent connection on the horn button. Bit of a nuisance really. Is there anyway I can take the unit apart to clean the contacts etc? I'd rather try before I spend £50 on a new one from Motorworks. If there is a linky that covers this all the better.
Thanks.

It could be the switch, but you should also check the connections to the horn itself. Also, if you have an aftermarket spiral-type horn such as a Fiamm, they are prone to filling with water which has a similar effect.

The Horn is a brand new stebel nautelus. I'll check the loom tomorrow. I bought the bike second hand and there must have been a mod removed by the previous owner. Perhaps one of the cables is going on the loom. I resoldered it last year. I'd like to attempt to clean the horn switch but I'm concerned that the units not ment to be taken appart? I don't want to take it appart and not be able to use the bike until i get a replacement:confused:

Didn't work. Inside of my switchgear is completly different. I've had to bodge a wiring job to make the head light stay on because along with the bits that disapeared when I opened the unit, I couldn't put her back togehter:blast. Horn still broken.

New switch gear anyone??
