Anybody got or used one of these? Seems like a possible alternative to Garmin or Tomtom? Uses your phone apps. to access Google maps or Michelin and doesn't use up phone battery.

Any observations welcome.

I’ve had one for about a week. Got the BMW nav prep mount as well. All works ok. Wanted a unit that could be transferred between bikes.

Observation for you - the apps running do use your phone battery more than, say, being connected to to a Garmin for traffic info. There seems to be more drain from MyRouteApp than Googlemaps or Apple Maps guidance but I haven’t proven that.

I would say it is similar to a chigee as its a CarPlay/android auto screen.

The mount is part of their phone mount range but it works for the Ridesync - "Interphone Quiklox Mount for BMW Nav" and item 2384057 on sportbikeshop. It has a rubber anti vibration mount and USB A and C sockets built in.

Just ordered one. I like the price and size, and the fact that you can remove it and take it with you even without the BMW Nav version. I have purchased the RAM Ball mount adapter like my quadlock so I can simply lock it in the top box when I stop. I personally don't like any of the ones that are hardwired so you have to have it showing when parked up. There is already a carpuride on ebay with it's wires cut being sold by some scumbag I assume, (allegedly your honour ..ehem)

That would be my experience running MRA vs Google maps on the Honda Africa twin screen. My old Motorola G7 and Motorola Neo 40 still charge though when connected to the Honda USB port. Looking at the MRA forum, some makes of phone may lose charge (or become excessively hot) even if plugged in. My phone connects wirelessly to the car and google maps uses very little battery life.....if connected for a couple of hours without being plugged in about 10-20% using Google maps and Spotify. Using MRA instead of google maps this ramps up to around 30-40% over that time. The Android auto version of OSMand+ which I also use (only £10 a year) uses less than MRA but a bit more than Google maps.

There’s a new MRA beta release today which specifically says it addresses temperature and battery usage. Not sure when it will go into public release, but it shouldn’t be too long.

I use Scenic with CarPlay exclusively. In September we did a week tour of 200+ mile days. Every day I got to the hotel with 40% or more left on my iPhone 15 Pro Max. This Saturday I tried MRA (not the latest beta) and after 5 hours had 27% left. That’s a massive difference.
