Investigation into final drive failures

In real fairness, the Americans will probably get some sort of result whereas people here will still walk blindly on hoping it won't happen to them and will too readily defend BMW because their dealers/warranty are reasonably obliging with faults.

You are not seriously implying we should all switch to riding a certain Kawasaki, are you?:P

About time!

I hope everyone who had to pay for a failure gets a refund, the only thing that ever gets a manufacturer to do something about their own cockups is to make it cheaper to sort it out.

Up to now it has paid BMW well as every time a unit goes pop out of warranty they make a bucket load of cash.

Not really, most of the failures I have seen on here BMW have supplied a new FD even out of warranty. This leaves an hour or so of labour to be paid for so its the dealers that are making the money.

Over there in the US of A the FD has got a 5 year warranty on bikes sold since 2007. Most of the failures were on the K1200LT.
