I am in the early stages of getting used to my Ipad2 and so far have been well impressed.
Just a couple of Qs.

1. Whats the deal with Apps? Isnt it easier to just save the homepage? For example when i go to search the App for a most newspapers i get an offer of 30 days free then you need to pay. I can just save homepage to screen and achieve the same thing surely without having to pay?? Its the same material anyway.

2. I subscribed to a 30day roll over 10Gb contract for £15 which seems really good value and gives me brilliant coverage where i live (i dont have b/band at home). How likely is it that id exceed this monthly coverage? I generally just surf and shop on it. No games or videos although wouldnt mind watching a few films on it if i knew where you could download them.

3. Whats the equivalent of Word on Apple? How can i go about writing a letter?

4. How do you cut & paste a link or passage?

Thanks

Trev

1) you're mostly right when it comes to newspapers. Guardian ipad app is really good, and you can currently get a pretty long trial (80 odd editions), but there's no way i'm paying £9.99 a month when it finishes.

2) hard to say.

3) Pages app.

4) hold finger on screen where you want to copy, release and Cut/Copy option will appear. hold finger where you want to paste, release and Paste will appear.

10 gig should be more than enough for surfing and shopping using up around 25Mb an hour especially if it rolls over. The movie downloads from iTunes for a two hour movie are around 1 to 1.5 Gb and streaming from the BBC iPlayer is about the same at 600Mb/hr.
So you should have enough to watch 2 or 3 movies a month depending on how long you surf each day bearing in mind that some of the softwear updates can take a big chunk out of your allowance, after the first month or so you will get an idea of how much you are actually using.

Thanks for that. Tried to download the Pages app but it said i dont have the correct software update on my Ipad to do so

Thanks Aidan - will give that a bash later.

Do it from a mates house with wireless broadband, or your 10GB will soon go. Worth checking how much it costs per min/MB
if you go over the 10GB as it can soon add up.

IME you can't download more than 10mb apps over the cell data network. you'll need a proper internet connection.

until recently (iOS5), you couldn't do updates without being connected with itunes on a computer. AFAIK the facility to do it from the ipad alone was introduced with iOS5 which is what you want to download :blast

i think you may have to do this update tethered to a computer. i believe the apple store will also do it for you if you don't have one.
