IPOD (20GB) Help required please

I`ve somehow uninstalled the operating programme . The Ipod itself has some 6GB of music installed . Upon reinstalling the operating program I find that I cannot transfer any of the ipod music back to the pc . I am reluctant to reset the ipod to factory settings as I might loose all the music , is this true ? Also when I connect the ipod to the usb port , Real Player opens & shows all the ipod music . I can play this music but not copy it or transfer it .

Any help would be appreciated .

Don't know if this will help Harry, but I recently had to transfer all my iPod music back to my PC following a hard drive failure. I did it using these instructions and it worked for me.

Hi I've used this on several occasion to transfer music off a nano to my PC and it works ok and its free, might help.
