Hi
Has anyone done any research into any savings by purchasing a BMW abroad(but within the EU). Am just wondering if it would cost the same ( or less) to purchase abroad and drive the bike back, making this into a holiday and registering in UK on arrival.
Is Belgium a cheaper country to purchase a Bike?
Thoughts pls
Thx Guys

Must be joking, this is the cheapest country in Europe at the moment. BMW R1200GSA in Holland 21,000 euro's, cyprus 25,000 euro's.

Had a puncture in Holland last year, went to a Suzuki dealer (nearest) to get it fixed, mate was on a two year old bandit 1250 that he bought new for £5300, 12,000 miles on the clock, they offered him 5,000 euro's cash for it there and then, new one in their showroom was 12,000 euro's.

Same with a lot of stuff, UK retailers that I deal with are selling Danish products back to the Danish and German products back to Germany, it is cheaper than buying in their country even after paying shipping.

Thanks John:
reason I am asking is I dont understand the options lists in German/ French etc, so I am looking at others comparisons first.
Will then spend time and get the options lists properly translated so there are no mistakes/ misunderstandings.

Here are some prices for you (standard R1200GS, no extras)

Germany 13000 euros (£10833)
France 14100 euros (£11750)
Belgium 13850 euros (£11542)
Netherlands 15500 euros (£12917)
Austria 15700 euros (£13083)

(Exchange rate used for conversion £1 = 1.20 euros)

UK £10225.

I think they are still doing the free pannier deal in the UK at the moment.
