Is there a knack of finding neutral?

I rode a demo bike for a couple of hours yesterday.quite impressive but I found it a pig to get neutral?
Is it my clumsy boot or is there a knack?

Are you kidding? Honda boxes are as clanky as my GS

The secret to finding neutral on difficult boxes is to snick into neutral just in the last few feet as you stop, so you are still rolling slightly

.... or ... Spin the revs, to about 4 or 5 K, and that split second after they've peaked and start to fall .... snick.

Sometimes it likes to come down from 2nd...depends on the phase of the moon...
