Is there a way i can copy stored programs from my SKY + Box onto my (modern) laptop?? and then replay, is such a cable available, what software would i need if it is possible?

as usual any pointers welcome :bounce1

If you're handy with hardware and if programmes are stored in a usable format you might be able to do it by popping open the Sky+ box, take out the hard drive, install it into your PC and copy anything across.

Otherwise it'll have to be via the old fashioned (and slow) way - take the video/audio out from the Sky+ box and feed them into an encoder attached to your PC. Something like this http://www.pixmania.co.uk/uk/uk/110014/art/hauppauge/wintv-usb-usb-tv-card.html might do the trick as it has S-Video input, then all you need is an S-Video to SCART lead.

I'm afraid the only way would be to capture it from the video output feed to a digitiser. The data stored on the hard drive is encrypted so you can't just remove the hard drive and pull the files.
On the plus side the box does have some functionality to output that can be picked up for capture.

Mu mate regularly copies progs from his tivo to his pc and then burns them to dvd, so you may just need a cable - it's only a hard drive in the sky+ box after all.
