Having finally sorted my new wireless connection out, it now seems that I dont have a usb2 port where my wireless dongle is connected. I can buy a usb2 adaptor, or presumably a wireless pcmcia network card, but my question is, will it make much ofa difference on the speed. I have read reports suggesting a usb2 is 40x faster than usb1 - will that be reflected in a noticably improved speed? or should I buy a wireless network card for my laptop? or leave things as they are?

Unless you're doing massive cross-network data transfers, it isn't worth bothering about. I'd still go for a card for other reasons (less susceptable to damage, working loose etc.), but not on speed alone.
