I updated my iTunes to 10.1.0.54 last night and now it crashes when I try to rip a CD

Has anybody else had the same happen?

IMHO there is no point ripping a cd with Itunes. Make a copy of the CD you want as it'll be better quality. Or maybe you were trying to rip a CD with lots of tracks?

A CD is better quality than a MP3 whilst an LP is better quality than a CD.... etc

I quite agree and have a reasonably posh hifi for listening to CDs (and LPs) proper loike.

I'm just rippping a load of old CDs to MP3 for my iPhone - worked fine until I did an auto update to the latest version of iTunes. Now it crashes a few seconds into ripping (any) CD

Sorry, can't help... Good luck, I think ITUNES is shite , but have tried a few other programs including mediamonkey and they are no better. So we are shafted:augie:D:confused:

All this isn't strictly true.

If you rip CD's as Apple lossless files rather than MP3 there is no loss or compression & bit perfect. You just need to change the ripping settings in preferences.

Oh and ripping seems fine on my Mac BTW

Agreed - on both counts :thumb2

Just to say that my updated (yesterday) itunes is doing the same thing!
Crashes every time.
Anyone any ideas on how to revert to the "old" one?

Just un-installed the new copy and reinstalled it.
Gave me GRIEF as it could not find my library. Reimported that (sigh!) and then it copied cd's with no problems.
Bloody i-tunes!!!

Well, in case somebody else experiances the same problem, I've fixed it :)

iTunes had defaulted to AAC encoding when trying to rip CDs so i set it back to MP3 and all is well again :thumb2
