When you re-installed everything did you then look for software updates? Sometimes does the trick.

I did, got the machine set so it updates regularly, I even force it from time to time,

I went to do some specific iWeb updates and it basically said the software wasn't there

it's got me flumoxed....

I have an idea, something that may work. One question though - is iWeb starting up at all or does it quit immediately after you click the icon in the dock? If it quits immediately you might try this.

Open the finder and hit your home folder (usually YOUR NAME), then library/application support/iWeb.

Inside this folder you should find a file called 'domain', in this file it seems are details of your sites and copies of resources such as photos. If this file were to become corrupt it may cause you problems such as those you have described.

You should move this file to your desktop (for safe keeping in case someone wiser than me comes along with an answer). Now try and open up iWeb. It should come up with a dialog that says 'iWeb needs a Domain file to continue. You may choose an existing Domain file or create a new one.'. Your options will be to Quit, to Create Domain or to Choose Domain.

You should click Create Domain. You'll then get a finder window popping up requiring you to choose a location. It should automatically pick the folder that we started with earlier but if not navigate to Home Folder/Library/Application Support/iWeb and click okay.

You should now have iWeb working again. If not then I'm stumped!

Forgot to say, when you've finished doing whatever it is you're doing in iWeb you might make a copy of the Domain file and keep it somewhere safe.
