Hi
I am meeting some mates in Jaca Northern Spain later this week

I had intended to go to Santander but now will have to go via Zeebrugge

Its been a bit of a rushed job, work etc but is now a defo:thumb

My question is has anybody done this trip .Any advice on where to stay or what route to take would be much appreciated

I have never been to France ,:eek:I have gone to Germany ,Italy etc loads of times .. So any tips :):):):)

My French is zero :blast
I am told this will not be appreciated by our French cousins ,so English speaking B and B would be good

when you go down through La Belle France If you choose to stay at any of the IBIS hotels (part of the Accor group) you will not be disapointed with a stay at an ibis .The rooms are ALWAYS prepared to a high standard they always have decent food , and the staff speak english Almost every large town has at least one ( or more) usually on the outskirts with easy connections to the main through routes. The garmin hotels list is how i find them ENJOY yer trip
all the best

Don't worry about language mate ....just get a cheap FR guide and go for it , been here for 7 years now but couldn't speak a word when i arrived !!!! the French love bikers, if you stay on the back roads go for the CHAMBRE D' HOTES have a go and they'll love you and you'll end up drinking with them......just go easy on the EAU DE VIE:jager

Always pays to at least try a few words to start with :jibber:jibber:jibber

ie learn to ask for a coffee, beer, room etc

You wont understand a word they say when they reply, but they will appreciate you trying :thumb

You often find that they will happily continue in English.

Start by asking in English and your doooooomed :(

If you owned a cafe in the UK and a French guy came in and talked to you in French.......

Have a great trip, I.m off to the Picos via St Nazaire/Gijon on Monday :JB:JB:JB

It's a pity you couldn't have stuck to your original plan and gone via Santander. Zeebrugge to Jaca is a long slog with two 400 mile days. As you are meeting up with friends I presume that you will just want to "get there" which means motorways. The obvious route from Zeebrugge would be Lille / Paris / Orleans / Tours / Bordeaux / Pau and into Spain over the Col du Somport. By adding another 65 miles you could miss out Paris and go via Rouen which is easier to get round than Paris (just follow the Le Mans signs). Anyway, no matter which way you go it's a hard slog. A late finish the first day as it's going to be well after eight before you get off the ferry, and an early start on the second day would be best. On similar trips I have left hotels at 5.00 am and stopped for breakfast at 9.00am with an easy 200 miles racked up.

phil and belinda are very good host!
well worth stopping!

For cheap hotels I like the B&B chain. Cheapish and all the ones I've stayed in are spotless.

Haven't heard from him. Should we be worried? :D

Thank you for your concern:D:D

Made it thro France

All that bollx about the frogs being un freindly ,I never had a problem

However the paris ring road was the scariest place I have ever been on a bike
I had to come back that way at 2 in the morning and it wa still a nightmare

Bikes filtering at 80MPH

The rest of it was bloody, chuffing, fu...ing fantastic:bounce1:bounce1

One of the guys is doing a route plan and vid
I will have a go at posting it when he sends me it

Int this time of year crap:(

Etap are also very good and cheap. They usually have secureish parking and are scattered throughout France and Spain. Just plot up from the map on their website.
