Can someone recommend good jacket and trousers for a) general use and b) off road? I am not keen to be a free ad to BMW so I am trying to avoid their stuff (I love the bikes). My Rukka is great but after 8 years is starting to leak.
Also, can someone explain to a newbie why the BMW off road suit is referred to as a TWAT suit? Just curious...

Cheers - Kneedeep

Jacket and trousers?

Hugo. For the past 5 years a have worn SPIDI rpm trousers and spidi normad jacket. never leaked yet but for the british summer time (lol) jacket can get hot. still going strong after a lot of off roading on f800gs and a GAS GAS enduro bike.lots of spills.
This site seems to be selling sale spidi http://www.sportsbikeshop.co.uk/motorcycle_parts/content_cat/410

Edit. http://www.grandprixlegends.com/motorcycle-gear these seem to have a better selection. Spidi granturismo dogs dangles. now wheres me credit card ;)

HUGO,
IVE GOT RUKKA ALL ROAD JACKET AND TRS, HAD IT FOR APPROX 2 YEARS AND ITS NEVER MISSED A BEAT, WHERE IT EVERYDAY TO AND FROM WORK, 25 MILE ROUND TRIP, AT WEEKENDS FOR BLASTS AND OFF ROAD.
ITS NEVER LEAKED AND STILL FEELS NEW.
LIKE THE TRS AS THEY ARE DESIGNED TO BE USED WITH OFF ROAD BOOTS
GRANTED ITS A BIT PRICEY, ABOUT £900 FOR JCKET AND TRS, BUT WOULDNT BE WITHOUT IT NOW

Take a look at Sinisalo enduro clothing. Although it's intended for off road use, it has a good 'on road' look about it. I seem to recall about £130 will cover a jacket, and nearly that again for the trousers. Considered very decent gear in off road circles.

2008 Sinisalo jackets are available on eBay at the mo' for £99 as the 2009 models are now out... I'd go for one of those, but have no experience of their durability/waterproofing.

BTW: Twat suit is just us Tossers being perverse... :pullface

I have a HG Tuareg suit which after six months is performing very well. Not cheap at just over £500, but it is completely waterproof.

I have the sinisalo 2008 gear fantastic for off road. Totally waterproof and being prone to falling off allot durable too :drool. But for road no, the body armour is crap, you need a full enduro body armour suit under jacket.

off road kit

Thanks. I should have clarified. The off road kit is for a 2 weeks tour in Morocco end March (Wildcat). The Sinisalo looks great. I'll look at that this weekend. Any advice on a) off road boots and b) body armour?

First week on the forum and it is proving invaluable and great (virtual) company. Regards - Hugo
