If you are genuinely seeking something that works well in all 4 seasons, including summer in southern Spain etc, take a tip from the skiing and mountaineering clothing specialists and get into layering.
Start with an armoured Cordura outer shell with as many zippered vents as possible. It will be windproof in winter but cooler than anything else in the summer. Avoid any sort of ventilation that can't be closed off e.g. thin Kevlar panels. You need something completely draughtproof, and many summer jackets aren't. The BMW Rally and Rally 2 jackets get my vote. I don't know of anything else with as many vents.
Don't get a jacket with a sewn-in Gore-Tex lining. Your Gore-Tex needs to be detachable, as with many of BMW's jackets. In the summer the Gore-Tex will make you hotter so you need to be able to take it off. Plus Gore-Tex wears out much faster than a good jacket - so you want to be able to replace it separately, perhaps every year if you are a high mileage rider. Nothing more annoying than a £400 jacket which has to be prematurely retired just because the Gore-Tex has chafed away in one or two spots.
Under that, a big high collared fleece made of something super duper and high tech. Maybe a BMW Comfortemp top?
Under that a heated waistcoat.
Finally your base layer - a T shirt made of X-Static. It has silver thread which disperses heat evenly around the body, plus it's quick drying and anti-bacterial. BMW's one is called the Silver Function T-Shirt. I think it's £40. There are other makes, such as Pearl Izumi, but they're no cheaper. They are absolutely fantastic, winter or summer
This is the only way I know of putting together a 4 season outfit that actually works, and doesn't involve buying multiple jackets. In the winter you wear as many layers as you need, in the summer just the base and the shell. The layer of air between the base and the shell will help keep you cool, in the same way as a Tuareg's robes in the Sahara.
