I'd be grateful for a guestimate as to the cost of airfreight of fully loaded 1150GSA from Thiefrow London to New York.

I am starting my "show and tell" prep for a gentle jaunt in a couple of years:-

New York
turn right
Nova Scotia
turn left
Vancouver island
turn left (maybe turn right to Prudoe then back down)
Argentina
turn around
ship bike to Cape Town

Shipped my xchallenge to Charlotte, north Carolina some 9 weeks ago with James cargo. Shipping weight was around 200 kgs with luggage. Cost came in at pretty much £1000.

Hope this helps with the trip budget, sounds like a good ride you have planned!

Why not ask James Cargo? :nenau

Met their rep at the HUBB last year, very approachable. Wish I could remember his name...

Yes dealt with Gilles in 2009 GSA to anchorage very helpfull
Or you could ship (by ship) to halifax Nova Scotia about £600 8 days

Fixed it for you. Worth a visit

Yep, speak with Giles at James Cargo who is very helpful but you should be budgeting around £1200 depending on the airline fuel costs.

HC Travel conveniently don't quote customs charges so be careful there. I spoke with David Grist about his shipping prices last year and he admitted he hadn't changed them on his site for 2/3 years.:eek

In my experience, when you ro/ro to the East Coast, by the time you add in all you extra costs such as motels, customs charges, port charges etc etc the cost is fairly close.

Thanks for that was going to use ro ro myself but will look into air now!
Shipping back from equador turned out to be real expensive once all the extras were added on

Deffo phone for quotes airfreight rates and associated costs vary wildly depending on route and service / time scale. :thumb2

I recently (about 4 weeks ago) asked James Cargo the exact same question - Heathrow to NYC, 1150 GSA with panniers.

They said £995 - which was better than I thought it might be.

Thanks - helpful

We can't decide whether to air freight back to blighty from BA, or take ship BA to Cape Town. :bounce1:bounce1:bounce1
