jammed pannier

Right hand pannier jammed, on simply could not remove from rail. I managed to push back the locking bar which locates under the mushroom head amd get the the pannier off, however I have had to strip down the locking mechanism has anyone had this problem if so any help in reassembly would be appreciated

I presume you are talking about the standard R1200GS pannier ? - if so I posted some pictures on this thread http://www.ukgser.com/forums/showthread.php?s=&threadid=37500

Thanks Clive, very helpfull. However there is a spring approx 1" long which I think is located on the small boss on top of the "wavey" arm which in turn locks under the mushroom head (god it's difficult trying to explain) I am not to sure whether am I right in this assumption if so where does the other end of this spring locate?

There is no spring there.

There is a small spring that acts on the (black) cam (shown to the left on the 3rd picture on the above thread).

The larger spring goes under the "locked/open" indicator slider (that has the green tape on it).
