As the west coast is now barren of BMW dealerships (we are a backwater afterall) the choice is John Clarks or Motorrad East?
What's folks out there opinion?
It's a '11 so needs Dealer servicing plus even if it was out of warranty I'm not aware of any independents about.
I look forward to the banter this may provoke.....and helpful comments of course.

'fcuk bm'............

..sentiments exactly (for now:toungincheek)

recently bought a pair of BMW GSA fog lights off ebay -
lights, brackets and mounting screws, switch and console with screws - no wirling!

Bought from BMW through JC's the complete wiring harness's to do the job, relays etc.

Installed harness and found that a connecter which connects the bridging harness to the main lights/switch harness was missing.

Approached JC's - no problem, message to BMW with details.
Told this morning, BMW's initial response was - as the lights were bought on ebay - they were not responsible for the missing part (:ronno, barstewards) .
The missing part was missing from the box that their harness was in and was to join the two parts of their 'supplied' harness.......
watch this space.....................

Ok, I'll vote for Motorrad East. Great bunch of chaps. Doctor Steve must be one of the most experienced BM techs in the country.

Some Scottish independant for you to consider:

There is always JK Motorcycles in the Springkerse Industrial Estate in Stirling. Tel: 01786 450 249 Not used them myself but know a few of the BMW clan who do. Pricing is keener than BMW main dealer.

Also Jim Downie who advertises himself as an independant BMW specialist in the BMW Club Magzine. Think he is based SW side of Glasgow. Don't know anyone who has used him. Contact details are: [email protected] Tel: 01505 850 341

Someone on this forum has also been singing the praises of a bike shop in Perth for servicing their GS: dig through some of the old threads.

Jim Downie....top man....made my eleven hunner go like greased weasel shit.

Sandy Bloy in Perth is the one I think you mean..good rep.

Oi...ARC...whats this 'north of Perth'' shite in your doodah...have you escaped from Fife??? Sounds a bit too close to me for comfort!

I couldn't agree more. I have said it before so I won't repeat myself, I won't repeat myself.

Guys at Dalkeith have a lot of knowledge and know their customers too....

Always used JC for last 2 GS's, never had any problem and they even put through a goodwill claim to BMW when the battery chucked it after 4 years.

Cant comment on MCE as I never used them but I once used the west for a service and they made a complete bollox of it, they even ordered the wrong parts for warranty work and forgot to phone me for over a week when the work had been completed. Only upside was I has one of their demonstrators. Piss poor service all things considered.

DECIDE QUICKLY

Phoned today to Motorrad East, earliest date available 4th April, job takes half a day Im told, taking a good book.:blast
