Thinking of buying a pair of Draggin Jeans,or similar. Like to think I have a 36" waist but more likely to be 38"!! It depends on the cut. Does anyone have experience of these or any of the similar makes? Where to buy etc? Any help appreciated.

I've got a set of Giali cargo pants for use when it gets really warm, and they're pretty good. Pockets for CE approved armour, Kevlar lined at hips, bum and knees, pocket for your sunglasses etc.

The best bit is that the legs zip off just above the knee, so you've got a pair of shorts handy. I think they were around £100 from the BMF and although I've not had cause to test their protective qualities they should be quite a bit better than jeans.

Mup.

I got a pair of draggin jeans about 4 years ago and and they are in the wardrobe after being worn about 5 times. I never liked them and bought a pair of Bmw city trousers which I wear most of the time now. The City trousers have far better armour and decent pockets and at £120 were worth it.

Hood Jeans are good, I've got a pair of their camo jeans and they are a good fit and they will make the leg length to your specification. They are also a family run British company who seem to care about their product.

Find them here http://www.hoodjeans.co.uk/

I have a pair and found that they come up on the small side. I would advise trying a size up.

As an alternative J and S do a good range of Kevlar jeans at much better prices, the seem every bit as good, but again, they all seem to come up on the small size, so try before you buy.

Got a pair of Hood jeans with optional armour, call them and discuss sizes etc and you should get a good fit.
Not tested the draggin quality thankfully but I wore them round Spain and France last summer for 3500 miles and found them very comfy. Then you only need thin waterproof trousers in case of rain.

Plus, when I stopped for the night I just removed the armour and walked around in jeans.

Another vote for Hood jeans,I have 2 pairs and wear them all the time especially in the winter.

I just ordered the same size I take in Levis and the were a good fit,I also have a set of the optional knee and hip armour but have never worn the hip ones as the they make you look funny!

Trousers from BMW from £120  Did they miss a zero off of something?

The kevlar lining in Hood jeans makes them completely windproof for winter riding - excellent product

Draggin

I bought a pair of the 'relaxed fit' draggin jeans a few months ago. They're dead comfy. I'm usually a 34 from gap etc, but ordered a 36 and they fit just fine. I got them on-line from Draggin in the US. Unfortunately they were stopped at customs so i had to pay an extra 15 quid or so to have them released. I took the armour option as well, but it's not very good as there's no pockets and the armour just sits on a couple of pieces of velcro. I've since binned that armour and wear a set of motocross knee protectors, which fit nicely inside my boots and jeans.

Giali were at the Manchester bikeshow last weekend and selling their wares- including their combat pants as described earlier.

Also on their stand in a corner they were selling off their stock of ordinary jeans- they were kevlar lined and looked like the Hood ones. They are apparently a design they are not doing anymore. And they had fat b*stard sizes as well.

Best part about it- they were £30 brand new. Hows that for a bargain!! May be worth contacting them to see what they have left- did notice a few pairs in various sizes. The phone number I have on my receipt is 01594 828454

Might be worth calling your local HD dealer, dunno if they all stock them but that's where I got mine in Southapton. Tried em on first and they're real comfy. I use em a lot in the summer.

Another vote for Hood.
Mine are with armour and I wear them all the time on the bike and had them for 3 or 4 years now, excellent bit of kit.
