Hi Guys n gals Looking at the evening of the 14th of June, Not sure yet where we're going but we will find a place.

Names below please.
Big Al

How about something more central or eastern? I might turn up then :)

and here's a suggestion ... http://www.starinntalybont.co.uk/

A number of wonderful roads converge near Talybont on Usk so everyone should get a decent ride in. My choice would be from Merthyr/Dowlais via Pontsticill Reservoir

I'm in

Hey Al, you can count me in, where ever we decide to go.

Bugger

Would have made an effort to get there - as a newbie

However, Belgium, Lux, Switz, France and Italy beckons for 10 day

Mountain passes or Abergavenny Bus Station?

Decisions..... decisions....

Next time eh?

Tuesday's venue

Hey peeps,
Just spoke to BigAl and on the recommendation from Dr Simon a while back, The Pelican Inn at Ogmore has been booked for 19:30.

Hi Guys

Sorry I cannot make tonight - specially as I recommended the pub - hope you like it.

I'm seeing Take That with my girls!

Simon

So do tell, what did you all think?
We went as a family last night and the food was excellent. Bestest fish & chips in Wales, plus can't chose between Doom bar or London Pride!

Yeah the fish that Wookie had looked good, I did mention that he confiscated the basket it was in, as it would be useful for camping :D I had the steak swimming  in pepper sauce, OK spose should of gone for the Pelican Pie :blast. B1FFO missed out on the swimming steak (only one left, thank god it wasn't busy ) and went for the curry platter, Not Very impressed with it me thinks, pish was the verdict. Nick had the gammon whiched looked really good, but he never said much as he was too busy eating. Tapas looked really good and the lasagne was lasagne :nenau
Beer looked good but was riding so a shandy was the order of the day, as when I have one doombar that normally leads to five, so stayed well clear.
Nice ride out to it via the backroads from Peterstone/Bonvilston/llancarfan/Llantwit and Southerdown.
Simon, whats the pub like by the Ford on the way to Llancarfan, looks really nice?

It's a nice pub, but when I last went there (16 years ago) it was very cliquey and did not give welcoming vibes to a stranger. No idea what it's like now. I think it serves the local landed gentry. We are depressingly short of decent pub pub in this area. Best IMHO is in Monknash. That'll be a pint of rev James please barman.
Rumour has it that the local Red lion has been bought by one of the Welsh rugby boys.

Yeah the Monknash is good.
The Kings in Pentyrch, is good for beer and food (My Local :augie) Padge the chef is a top bloke, hey even Keanu Reeves popped in for a ribeye a cuple of months ago :thumb2
