just about to purchase an 04 1200 GS

just been reading the tales of woe about an '06 R1200 GS lemon. The bike I am looking at is an 04 1200 with 12000kms on it - purchase a BM for reliability were my thoughts. Being the first of a new series, perhaps I should be striving for a newer model. Have they been making changes to the mechanics of the bike as problems present themselves? After reading the article I am having second thoughts about the 1200. It is also a private sale, so no waranty.

I got a 2004 GS.. Reliability?? No way. Guaranty after 2 years? No way.

I love the ride, and invested in it quite a bit recently. But if this is your goal.. Don't buy it! The list of faulty things is just too long (and I had almost all of it...... )
