I've just pulled the pin on a new project - a 2013 R1200GS LC in Fire Blue with ~25k miles on it. I always wanted a GS before I hit 50 so this should keep me entertained and I can't wait for it to be dropped off next week!

It's in broadly great condition with some *very* mild corrosion (some of the steel clips seem to be a bit oxidised) and has some nice farkles supplied with it (BMW luggage and LedPerf spots) however the dealer seems to think it's a base model? I'm not so sure: It has some nice features like rider modes, cruise, ESA, DTC, factory LED headlight, heated grips so... I'm still digging.

First jobs are:
- Get Barnstormer Alton to complete the outstanding 'Service Action 0033130000'
- Then complete some major servicing work for my general peace-of-mind (inc. valve check, oil & filter change, air filter, coolant flush, brake fluid change, brake caliper strip/ refresh, suspension pivot lube, etc.).

Planned additions: Wunderlich front engine guard, a Mudsling (or similar), and some new grips because the existing ones are past their best.

Also the tyres are a bit old (Metzeler Tourance Next) and I've found Metzelers to be a bit hard and sketchy in the wet, so will factor in some Michelin PR6's (or similar) at some point.

Sooner rather than later, I also plan to get a headlight protector but in the expanse of Amazon/ eBay tut, I'm not sure which one to get? Could I get some pointers, please?

At the end of the year I'm also tempted to wrap the blue parts in satin black because I'm a boring git and the blue is a bit jazzy for my tastes

Anyway - see you about! (y)

Good luck with the project! I prefer the old touratech metal mesh style headlight covers, but they do destroy the light pattern at night. looks cool though...............

Sounds nicely specked up to me, don’t think there was much else you could get on a 2013 bike, maybe a couple more modes depending on how many you have
