I was going to add my Harley onto my Super Tenere euro breakdown insurance.
When they found out that I don't keep my two bikes at my home, despite being in a locked garage, they said that I'd violated their T&C's and that they'd cancel my cover and not even refund me the full amount despite not having used the service, and besides it's a breakdown and not even homestart service so don't know why it's an issue where they're stored.

So I have questions:

Who allows this of having vehicles stored overnight elsewhere?

Also, after reading theirs and others T&C's I see the wording "having had a full service in the 12 months prior", I assume most here like me, do their own servicing, what do you all take from that, could it be an issue?

My Nightster is coming up to 15 yrs old, who's good with older bikes?

Thanks in advance.

I've had an AA policy with breakdown added on since donkey years. On the bikes, over the years I used it once for recovery on a flatbed and another time for simpler roadside assistance.

I have to be honest I've never been through the T&Cs but they never asked where the bikes are parked (it's breakdown ffs) overnight. There is the clause that they don't come if you are within 500 meters from home, so maybe that could be in play?

Never considered this. I started servicing my GS, must check.

My LV policy refers to "your home or normal place of garaging"

It also says you need to keep to the manufacturer's service schedule, which could be more then 12 months for some makes. Technically my car is outside this parameter but it only does about 20 miles a month so it can wait for a service.

Sadly, you can't buy this policy now. It used to be sold via comparison sites but they have withdrawn it for new customers. Fortunately, I can renew it each year. Personal cover in the UK and one named vehicle in Europe for £65.

You can go to LV's website and buy direct but it comes with more bells and whistles and more cost.

EXACTLY! You can't breakdown if it's not being ridden.
I've been reading through their T&C's and have not found any clause stating this, in fact there is a section saying "or wherever you keep your vehicle overnight" so I'm going to complain profusely and involve ombudsman if necessary as I'm not only losing cover but they're charging me for the two months I've "used" the cover.

WESSIE: I'll check out LV and also I think you mentioned NW with a current account before, we have a savings account with them so I'll see if it's worth having a current account

also look at the Co-op bank account Wapping mentioned yesterday - it has a lower fee than Nwide

Thanks again Wessie (and Wapping), I've got through screening now just reading T&C's as so many companies don't include you if you're on a motorbike over 125cc, but I'm guessing you checked that already. I'll post back here with an update if anyone else is keeping an eye on it.

Hi all, after looking at both Coop and Nationwide I went for the latter.
The reason was simple: although they both are charging £18 a month now, and the medical conditions cost me and my wife £30 each as opposed to the Coop who were going to charge nothing at all (the usual ailments post 60yr olds, Hiatus Hernia, arthritis etc) the FlexPlus would allow us to upgrade to 120 days travelling whereas Coop was limited to 31 days.
Compared to the £500 I was paying Staysure for European health cover alone, for £276, I get worldwide cover, European Breakdown and mobile phone cover included and as there are 6 vehicles in my household, breakdown cover alone would have cost me a small fortune.
