in the last race.... quite unusual for something like that to happen.

I was meant to be up at it today but i went back to sleep this morning and never woke again till after10:30 so i didn't bother.

Did anyone go and if so what was the racing like... any good...apart from the last race obviously
Did they film it for TV?

Sadly Gary it's true. :(

The first running of the Armoy road races, and a great shame that it has ended in tradgedy.

Gary i was at it and it is indeed very unusual and very tragic, thoughts go out to the family.:rose
At the time we were told a part came of a competitors bike and hit a spectator.
But as the news reel states it was a crashed bike that hit him.
Last race was posponed for an hour or so then abandoned.
noone knew the extent of the incident at that time.
Racing was superb, very short hairy course, and very exiting to watch especially at the little hump on a left hander just before church bends
Mad as Feck!
Archibald was fantastic, smooth and very fast, winning 3 races Michael was on equal points going into the last race with Adrian, with 2 wins and the rest on the podium, Dunlop was superb too very different style to Adrian.
Would have been a cracker race had this tradgety not happened.
But, The day im sure would have went to Adrian as he was leading the race and michael opting for the 600 instead of the 1000 was sitting about 4th or 5th when the race was stopped.
Pity this has happened especially on its first run. Very sad for all.
Cheers
Ron

U mean Ryan?

So sad an ending to a well organised meeting

Thoughts are with everyone involved (family, organisers marshalls. riders, medics etc)

I went over an Marshalled at the Event. I was at Robbo's Corner (90 degree Left at the end of a very long run from the Start) for Practice and for the first 4 races on Saturday before getting moved to Kennedy's where i was stationed on a VERY fast straight approaching an awesome left sweep leading to the Finish Line. The Racing was very good, the Circuit got good reviews from the Riders and Spectators.
The Tragic incident that Killed Mr McCook happened at the start of the 4th lap of the Grand Final.I was told by a Great Niece of Mr McCook that a rather poignant aspect to the incident is that Mr McCooks death occurred on the day after the 10th Anniversary of the Passing of his Brother.

ERR, a bit confused by this. I understood the Michael took the 125,William the 250 (although the Speakers were going a bit "Norman Collier" at the time) and Ryan Farquhar took the 600 SuperSports,650 Twins and the 1st Open Race (from Guy Martin) and was leading the Grand Final when the Red was thrown :nenau :nenau

Sorry, "Ryan Farquhar " Dooh! Where the fook did i get that from, Jeez!

And from What the speakers told us was thar Michael had 2 wins and Ryran had 3, so the final they were all square on 39 points? ( don't shoot the messenger). Missed the first race so was only going on what i heard through the speakers. wasn't keeping a score sheet, too busy walking round the course inbetween races, and trying to keep my teenage daughter interested.
Please forgive my stupidity im soooooooooo Sorry!!

Calm Down Dear,it's only a Web Site ;) . TBH, I was not sure about the 250 Race Result due to the Speakers and by the time the Riders passed me on the slow down lap, they were not in anything like the order that they'd passed during the Race.
