My K1 had a small rear brake problem, looks like it was dragging and generated enough heat to melt one of the caliper pistons

The only inkling I had was that it seemed to lose power and then come good (thought it was the fuel system). Stopped for a look when the ABS light came on and thought molten alloy on the wheel is not normal :eek

Looking at various retailers the pistons don't seem to be listed. I am thinking about replacing the whole caliper given it's exposure to high heat -are the K1 rear ABS calipers the same as any other models? Specific K1 info ain't easy to find.

better check it hasnt warped the rear disk. i managed to fry the seals in my k100 didnt manage to melt a piston but it did well and truly fecked the disk :blast

Yep, disk will be replaced. Don't like the heat induced blueing or the resurfacing that occured after the pad material disappeared
