There appears to be some history of the switch gear failing on the K1300gt. Mine stopped working today all of a sudden. Had been out in heavy rain for a little while.
Any advice, thoughts. Replacement part probably expensive

I would start with taking it apart, drying out (maybe with hairdryer if any moisture) and spraying some contact cleaner inside.

If that does not do the trick then take a look on Ebay. Seems to be quite a few used parts available for £100-130

@de crowe

Do NOT spray WD 40 into it !!!

Whatever membrane material BM use in their switch gear is REALLY susceptible to WD40 and they just swell and split!!

Splitting it off and blowing it gently (and Carefully) with an air blow gun, Might be a solution?

sticking in a bag of rice for a day or two? as to treating it afterwards Silicone spray or silicone grease may be your answer

The switches were always an issue for the across the frame 4s Did you contact BM to see if there was an update / safety campaign ?

I didn’t Jay, it just came to my notice yesterday. It was with BMW recently for a “health check” and all was good. I will contact BMW tomorrow. Thank you

It’s raining heavily again today, so a visit to eBay for a look is very likely thank you.

#257363165489 part number

How do I check this is the correct part number for the left hand side switchgear?
I am a bit of a Luddite
