I find them fine for road use in the dry, probably not quite as good as Tourances but they don't really slow me down. In the wet I take it a bit easier, never had anything nasty happen but it is pretty much a knobbly. Much better on gravel, dirt, mud (within reason) than Tourances, life is maybe 25% less.
I'm on my third rear, second front. Plenty of gravel roads round here so the tradeoffs suit me. Some people are lots faster than me, lots are slower.
