Hi Guys,

I have the above radio on order to work with my Autocom 200. The Autocom brochure only lists a bike power option to work with the super-pro avi system.....how can I do it with the Active Rider 200 ???? I though the power would come to the radio direct from the 12v source not via the autocom ??

Its not possible, as the Active is only designed to run battery powered transceivers. If you want the Kenwood bike powered you will need to upgrade to a Super Pro AVi.

Rich, could a Battery eliminator be used, or is there likley to be 'ground loop' problems?

Yeah loads of interference issues mate due to the ground loop. It would be like running a GPS without an isolated lead.

.....only just bought the Active 200

Friends are suggesting I just fit a VOX headset to the TK-3201 and forget the autocom altogether.

Thanks for all your help guys.....especially GS Rich .

While at my dealers today we talked about powering the TK-3201 and part 1402 which he sells to people for use with their 200's as well as 300's. We tried one on my bike with my 200 and it seemed to work fine......is there some reason why I should not buy and use one of these parts with my 200 and TK-3201 ???

GSRICH ?????? Help ???

The radio uses an extra 1/2W of power to drive it. The Super Pro AVi (system 300) has "strengthened internals" plus a metal case to act as an extra-large capacity heat sink.
The 200 obviously does work in this configuration, but you are probably voiding your warranty by using this way. Doug Sant at Autocom who deals with warranty repairs will be able to tell the cause of failure, as he has quite a few come his way before now, I dare say.
Why don't you ask the dealer for their own warranty if you are worried?

Would you consider using just the supplied battery pack and recharging it overnight? Seems to solve a whole load of issues

Mark, do not use the Part 1402 mate you run the risk of blowing up your Active, John has fully filled you in on the reason on why not to bike power the Kenwood. Your dealer has supplied you the wrong information and you know what I have told you is the correct information. I would speak with your dealer again ASAP to get the correct part supplied as you have got you ask your self will they cover your system under warranty due to miss use!!:nenau

No where does it state within our brochure or part discriptions the Part 1402 can be used via an Active and no where does it mention the Active can bike power any transceivers.

Not in my experience :) FYI I use a battery eliminator with my TK-3201 (which is also plugged into an autocom 200) - no 'ground loop' problems at all :)

Just means an extra wire from the accessory socket to feed the Kenwood.
