Keyboard w\oes ....

My laptop keyboard somehow\ now\ has different functions to normal ...

typing an s makes the cursor jump back to front of the line or to the line above .... w\ has backslash .... backspace is now\ a z

Have reset keyboard to English but no change .....

Any help appreciated ....

Assuming it's a PC rather than a Mac, is the Ctrl key stuck down?

Yes it is a PC and no the Control Key is ok .... language is English too .... and the number tw\o is like this 2=

Check and see if the numeric keypad function is enabled. Some keys on laptops double up as numbers if you set it so.

If your running Windows 7 check the Region options, make sure Language is set to UK English, also check the Keyboard settings, these need to be set as UK layout by default, you might find they are set as US layout.

On Windows 10 check the Control Panel\All Control Panel Items\Language and make sure it shows English (United Kingdom) and the Keyboard layout also reads the same.
