If “keyless” you get one key fob with a flip out key and one emergency plastic key with a chip inside it.

In the 80's you got more Revels in a bag than you do today. But you can buy another bag.
You used to get two 'real' keys with a new BMW bike, now you get one and a plastic coded spare. But you can buy another one.

Sorry. That might have sounded like the GShaters that populate this site. I will rephrase that. 1 perfectly adequate flip key and 1 very handy lightweight plastic version to hide in case of emergencies while in France on holiday.

Get yourself a spare CR2032 button cell as well. Less than a quid.

Have just changed the battery, am off round the nc500 in the morning so have been sorting spare keys out thought id lost one
If you have the Nav6 or panniers it's worth getting a spare key without the transponder so you can keep your keyless fob in your pocket. Bought 1 from here and was very pleased with the service
