knackered forks

Well...my forks were out and inspected by the WP service technician. The top guru here.Nothing wrong. All ok:duno. What is interesting though,he commented that the problem with this type of Marzocchi forks is that there is no filtering in the compression mechanism, not really adjustable and in fact not working.Only the springs is there.Something about a hole in the valve of the compression leg,an older Marzocchi design, and that this can not be improved anyway.I'm going to try heavier oil (100) which he said will have no effect on compression and a hardly detectable one on rebound, few clicks maybe.

10w

I changed to 10w fork , when i put in the heavier fork springs , the bike is less plush , but takes the hard hits much better. I also increaded the oil volume about 30cc per leg

i didnt really finish replying to your post you've only got to look on this forum to see how many have had replacement forks or asscoiated components its not good , my suspender guy did comment on how flimsy he thought the forks were on a bike this size his comment was should have been a 50mm bottom end and fully adjustable on both legs instead of the cockeyed way it is at the moment nuff said i think apart from a bmw recall and foc replacment with bigger items [ and its xmas tomorrow ]

LE found the spring rate very soft but never commented on the fork diameter. I agree 50 mm would be stronger but even the 950 SE and ADV don't run that diamter of fork and the 950 ADV in particular weighs more. The compression adjustment on one fork and rebound on the other are an alternative set up for forks. According to LE Ohlins uses this on their new forks and Yamaha, most notably on the FZ-1, has been using it for years. I look forward to hearing what you end up with and how bad the damage is. Can you post pictures please. Thanks.
