I am running standard rims on my Aircooled '92 Gess, I have been down the local tyre shop chasing after knobblies and all they can come up with is Metzlers semi tourances' and some semi MT's.
What tyres are there that fit the below sizes, and is it possible to run tubes on a standard rim?!?!
Do they need blocks?
Any help would be appriciated....

Front 90/90 21
Rear 130/80 17

Respect!

Yep tkc's .. Ive got them on my 100gs and they are great. Make a bit of noise but once speed is up it is drowned out by wind and engine noise:D
When new they do feel odd until the edges are worn off a bit then they can be given serious stick.

Oh and I do run tubes in the standard tubeless rim

I would pick MT21's over TKC's every time
they are far better off road
But if you plan on not doing anything too difficult
and staying on the road a lot then TKC's will be ok

The TKC's sound just the ticket, my tire shop told me that he couldn't get them, but that website disagrees... Another crisis averted by UKgser's... TA!

:bow

I used Metzler Karoo's on my 100GS and found them to be excellent, only took them off when the weather got really wintery here. They are going straight back on when the weather improves..!!!

TKCs

I found TKCs were useless in mud - great for all dry off-road conditions though, and on tarmac too. For UK conditions I'd opt for MT21s next time.
