Any info on knobbly tires pros and cons, good makes ,prices , milage, what are they like on the road wet/dry , you know the drill --- thankyou please ------- Dog

TK80s, ace and cheap and stick better than they have any right to, back about 3.5k front about 7k

Agree with Vern on this one...... Sports bike riders get really p1ssed off when after a mad blast round the twisties they pull up beside you at a junction and utter the words 'Fcuk... you did that with those tyres' :D:D

My front has now done 3 backs... 11k but, is now ready for the skip

£ for £ you are talking roughly the same price and mileage as Tourances... 2x back & 1x front = £150'ish

Thanks

Thanks Paul, Fanum and Vern for your responses .Got to get me a pair of them TK s Dog

I always had TKC 80's on my 1150 and found them more than good enough for me on the road and great off-road. Agree with Paul re: 2 back to 1 front and about 3.5k per back with mostly road with some off-road and about 1.5k back when I was really having fun.

When running around organising events that use forestry type gravel roads the rear is almost permanently spinning, great fun but it does tend to wear them out quickly. Still better than my ols KTM 400 - if I got 400 - 500 miles out of a back I thought I was getting good value for money, seems fun costs!

My soon to be new GSA comes without knobblies, not a bad thing as my arm's to weak for off-roading yet but as soon as they're a little worn I'll be fitting TKC 80's or possible the Metzeler Karoo's.

I've got a pair of Metzler karoos on my spare wheels. I think they are as hard core as you can go for offroad.

They feel really nasty on road but are top notch off road. Took ages to block the tread in a wet clay pit and never slid on green lanes either. I don't think you'd want to do a lot of road milage on them though.

Can't comment on mileage as its nearly all been offroad so far!

Got a Karoo rear tire now for 2k km, offroad better then the tkc,
but onroad extremely noisy... and it will not last as long as the tkc when doing 70% onroad...
