KNOBBLY HUGGERS

Hi dudes,

Just picked up my new 1200 Adv with knobblies fitted. I was wondering if any of you guys have fitted a hugger with the knobblies? I love the rugged look they give but like the protection the hugger provides. I had the knobbly/hugger combo on my 1150 Adv with no problems. I spoke to Nippy Norman who did not recommend fitting a hugger with knobblies for reasons of clearence. I measured my mates 1200 dv with the Anakee tyres fitted and they appear to be 5mm lower than the Knobblies. Any help and advice would be most greatful.

If you're going to take the bike 'off road' (which you should as it's got TK's), I wouldn't recommend using a hugger as shit gets trapped in and around it. Plus, a hugger looks crap on it too...

I've never been very convinced that huggers work on road bikes - check out the sh1t everywhere when you been on a long wet ride.

But knobblies and a hugger - a bit of a contradiction of styles and you're much more likely to get the crud firmly trapped and even snap your hugger!

Agree with everyone else, you don't really need a hugger and IMHO they don't really work and look naff. Especially if you are going off-road.

However, you can install or make other stuff to protect the battery and the underside of the seat from mud. I made my own out of rubber and there are other creative solutions I've seen on this site.

Thanks for the advice. I have seen the crap thrown up around my mates legs when out for a spin in shitty conditions and thought the hugger may help? May have a look at some other method of solving the problem.

Have a Motorrad hugger on my GS1200 - not in production anymore. It does not get rid of the all the road crap spun up by the wheel - and the GS is the worst bike I have ever had for that particular problem - but it does reduce the amount. Whether it is worth the financial hit only you can decide
