Help please - have laptop wifi'd thru a router modem to a static pc elsewhere in the house, also have sky+ in another room from the sky box with the signal sent by one of the video sender units and received at the other telly by the receiving box. The microwave oven has always made the remote telly go crazy with interference, now the laptop appears to annoy it as well, making surfing(me) and telly watching (the rest) annoying for all. Have tried all 4 of the channels on the sender/receiver for the telly without success. I would go for sky room to room if i had to, but is there another solution not involving direct cabling to the telly, any help appreciated

Your router/modem (if it's a wifi) should have the facility to run on a selection of channels...usually 1-11. You'll need to get into the router's setup and try a few different ones...it'll probably be set on 11 as a default, so try 3 or 6 to start with.

failing that, move the various transmitter/receiver 'boxes' away from one another or try selective metallic 'shielding'.This will probably be more difficult in that you'll want to keep your tv stuff separate from the wifi 'puter and microwave.

thanks centaur, had a fiddle to no avail, but hopefully have sorted it by buying a 5.8ghz av sender from

www.jaycarelectronics.co.uk

an aussi firm with a british site, i will need plug convertors, but now i should be free of all the traffic at 2.8ghz which most of everything seems to operate at
:clap

Hello There - I ve been driven mad by this problem and had taken to turning the wi fi off - even if I moved the frequency it was still problematic.
I was about to post and see what people had done to solve this ( other than pay sky a fortune to have anonther point in the hse !)

I have tried two of these AV senders , the Phillips one , which is pug ugly and a pain - it has to be cnnected to Scart and when you already have the tv on the wall, you dont want a big ugly Sh**t box perched on top of it. I got a different unit which looked better and worked less satisfactorily !

Can you tell me how you get on with this unit and if the picture is good and how far are you sending it.....Our Tvs are just above each other , but the grid in the floor is weakening the signal.
Also are you or do you know if you can add another receiver for another TV to it ?
And I am assuming that the Sky remote works from the other TVS...
As I said tell us how you get on please.

Cheers

will post results, but after research whether you may £20 or £120 ALL the UK ones i could find operate at 2.8ghz a long with everything else, so if you have wifi they are all crap. My other tv is about 12 mtrs away with3 walls in the way, the 2.8 works fine as long as everything else is off. as for the 5.8ghz They do extra receivers on the site and although it isnt 100% clear it offers a MAgic eye for the remote as many others do. This could be the answer to both our prayers and save me giving mr sky any more money for room to room box, when its installed with mains adaptors i will repost

As promised an update - installed last night by just swapping the cables from the existing 2.4ghz and plugging into the new beast, you will need to get appropriate uk power supplies or buy adaptor plugs ( i happened to have a pair of defunct adaptors at work of the correct voltage/wattage/ampage or whatever). The remote control function works well but needs positioning with more care than the old one. Picture quality is on a par if not better and there is NO INTERFERENCE at all, not even a little bit, no lines or glitches on the screen and no noise at all from switching channels or the microwave or the wifi. An absolute success and highly recommended. My only concern is whether these things are completely legal over here, i dont appear to have downed any planes yet!
