Hello

I am currently planning next years holiday, which will be spent 4 weeks motorbiking through Europe

I am looking at getting a large Touratech top case.

Does anyone have any comments on these?

I guess my major concern is: Will pillon space be reduced with these topcases?
Currently I've got a BMW top case and this is slightly curved for the pillons back
The TT ones are not.

Major point in getting a large case as this is to store helmets and clothes whilst in more urban areas

Any comments will be appreciated

The large TT case is bigger across the width only. It's the same height and depth as the 'standard' one.

It mounts quite a lot further back than the BMW plastic one.

I don't routinely carry a pillion but the times that I have, there's been no comments about a lack of pillion space/comfort.

That was exactly the reply I was hoping for.
You wouldnt happen to have picture ot the box mounted on your bike do you?

It will propably look huge, but i reckon it is the only way to go, definately better looing than the big plastic ufos?

I have the standard one but Peter (formerly Uncle Albert) has a large one (he also has the big TT top box ;)).

You may have to dig hard but there are some photo's of his mobile TT catalogue on the forum from a few years ago.

I was going to get one and made enquiries with Touratech as they don't list a mounting bracket for it in their catalogue. I was told they don't do one and you have to sort the mounting method out for yourself..............in case you didn't know.

Good luck.

Ian.:)

I've got one of those that I no longer need.
Are you interested in a used one perhaps?
Cheers,
Michel

Hello MiGSel
Yes, indeed I might be, I guess It is up to a matter of price and postage I reckon.
It might prove very expensive to ship from UK to Norway.
Does any mounts come with It?
How did you sort out the mounts anyway?, as It it seems it might prove a problem?

I'm in Belgium, but I don't know whether that makes much of a difference :)

No, I had it bolted on. Very stable, no rattling.

The integrated locks are fitted.
Told somebody else here it can go for £200 plus p&p.

Cheers,
Michel

Hello Michel

Definately interested, if you vould check up on postage that would be great, but adding postage as well as norwegian VAT it might actually end up same as from Touratech

You had it bolted to the actual rear standar luggage rack right?
On an 1100 or 1150?

Regards

I haven't wrapped up and weighed it, but I think it is between 5 and 10kg.
In that case, it is 52 euros for postage to Norway and 39 euros to the UK.

If it's less than 5 kg, that would be 26 euros for both.

I had it bolted to the rear rack of my 1150 GS Adventure.

Cheers,
Michel
